6 Journal Prompts for the New Year
When we sat down to plan our New Year’s content for you, we were originally going all in on goals and habit trackers (think, big tips for more sleep and less screen time). But this suddenly felt too regimented for us. Because whilst structure is good - and resolving to create healthier habits can only be a positive thing - we can’t optimise everything all the time. We’re human!
That being said, we wanted to mark the New Year because we love the feeling of optimism and renewal it brings - it’s the same reason we like spring and September! So we decided that we’re most interested in doing a bit of reflection.
We came up with 6 journaling prompts that encourage you to look back on 2022 and ahead to the year to come. It’s a more open-ended and less structured way of thinking about any New Year’s resolutions, and we hope you find it a fulfilling and worthwhile exercise too.
And regardless of what comes up for you when doing this exercise, thinking about the most important things for you is what really matters.
Looking back on 2022:
The key lessons I’ve learned are …
The most memorable moments I’ve experienced are …
The things I’m most grateful for are …
Looking ahead to 2023:
The things that make me happy and that I should try to do more often are …
The message to myself that I will repeat throughout the year is …
One personal goal I want to achieve in 2023 is …
(This could be anything from getting a library membership, to trying wild swimming, to being more honest with the people around me about how I’m feeling, to making a career switch.)
Happy writing!
