#LeaveAfterLoss

Fighting for paid leave for miscarriage.

An estimated 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. Yet most people are expected to carry on with their regular routine.

Many women experience anxiety, depression, and PTSD in the aftermath of baby loss. We believe that all women deserve the right to take paid leave for miscarriage if they wish.

Join us as we advocate for change.

what we’re campaigning for

TLDR: 3 days of paid miscarriage leave for those who lose a baby before 24 weeks.

Currently, time off for miscarriage is at the mercy of individual company rules, and often only covered by sick pay policies. But miscarriage is not an illness, it is a loss, a bereavement, and should be treated as such. We believe acknowledging it in this way will help to acknowledge the sense of loss felt by many people.

Establishing statutory rules will make it easier for workers to understand their rights, and ensure that those without sick pay receive some paid leave (including partners, who currently do not get any time off for miscarriage).

Angela Crawley MP has introduced a bill to legislate for three days of paid miscarriage leave for those who lose a baby before 24 weeks. It’s currently in the second reading phase, and we want to drive as many signatures as possible on the official petition.
