Great Novels Turned into Films

In 2023 we’re expecting the film adaptations of some excellent novels, including Taylor Jenkins Reid’s Daisy Jones & The Six, Kristin Hannah’s The Nightingale, Alice Walker’s The Color Purple, and Suzanne Collins’ The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (the Hunger Games prequel).

 

8 May: An extra bank holiday

King Charles III’s coronation on 6th May will be marked with an extra bank holiday on Monday 8th - and expect street parties, flags, and desserts.

 

9-13 May: Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool

Eurovision is coming to Liverpool! The 67th edition of the contest will be held at the Eurovision Village festival area in and around Pier Head in Liverpool. Look forward to bright colours, sequins, and a bigger emphasis on the public vote.

 

New Seasons of Great TV Shows

Including Succession season 4, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Sex Education season 4, and Heartstopper season 2. And if you haven’t got acquainted with these shows yet, now’s the time!

 

20 July – 20 August: 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup

Watching the Lionesses be crowned champions at the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 final was a mega highlight of the year. And this year, we’ll be watching them again as they take on nations from around the globe at the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

 

21 July: Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is released

From Ladybird to Little Women, everything Greta Gerwig puts her hand to is *brilliant*. We expect no less from her Barbie film, which features Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and wonderful costumes.

 

28 October: A partial lunar eclipse

In late October, a partial lunar eclipse will be visible in the evening and the next morning over Europe and most of Africa and Asia. It will be the 11th lunar eclipse of Lunar Saros 146, which is a complicated way of saying it’s a special event we only see every 18 years.

 

Legally Blonde 3

We don’t know what the plot will be and we don’t have an exact release date. But we do know Legally Blonde is returning for a third film. It’s been five years in the making, and Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Coolidge are on board.
